2006 - NOVEMBER SIGHTINGS

November 3rd: Little change in numbers of migrants. The male Black Duck and male Bluethroat both remain.

November 2nd: A Little Grebe was seen in South Harbour during the morning and the Black Duck and Bluethroat both remain.  Other counts included 149 Greylag Geese, Sparrowhawk, 2 Merlin, 2 Water Rail, 7 Purple Sandpiper, 3 Jack Snipe, 152 Turnstone, 3 Little Auk, 2 Dunnock, 10 Robin, 71 Blackbird, 25 Fieldfare, 12 Songthrush, 150 Redwing, singles of Chiffchaff, Blackcap and Goldcrest, 9 Chaffinch and 90 Snow Bunting.

November 1st: Another windy day with wintry showers.  Morning census produced a surprise arrival in the form of a Black Duck, a first for the island!  Also present were the Shoveler, 2 Merlin, Sparrowhawk, 5 Woodcock, 3 Glaucous Gull, Long-eared Owl, Waxwing, Bluethroat, 48 Fieldfare, 71 Blackbird, a single Lapland Bunting and 66 Snow Bunting.
