Making your booking
To make a booking please contact the Observatory by email, letter or phone. Because of the logistics involved, we recommend you:
- Contact the Observatory and make a provisional booking. Let us know the dates you'd like to visit; you pay nothing at this stage, but we'll hold the room for you whilst you organise your transport
- Arrange your transport onto Fair Isle and then your travel to Shetland
- Get back in touch with us to let us know that your transport is organised (flight bookings can only be made from early January) and arrange to pay your deposit of £50 per person* to confirm your booking (we take card payments over the phone). We will then send you information about your visit.
(* 50% of the total amount between 1st September and 14th October).
We are open from mid April to the end of October each year.
FIBO regrets it is unable to accept bookings for single-night stays in May and June each year (during this period the minimum stay is two nights).
Please check with the Observatory with respect to vacancies. The peak migration seasons (May-June and September-October) can be busy, so book early to avoid disappointment. Late availabilities at these times will be posted on the 'noticeboard' on our home page.
